1Password 7 is here!
We recently released 1Password 7 for Android. It houses a brand new look and exciting features like the Strong Password Generator and Watchtower to keep you secure and confident online. 1Password 7 is a free update and is compatible with devices running Android 5 or later. If you haven’t already done so, you can read about all of the new features and improvements in our blog post.
If you have a 1Password membership or using a standalone vault in the OPVault format, you can dive right in and start enjoying all of the new features in 1Password 7.
If you have a standalone vault in the legacy Agile Keychain format, you’ll need to convert to the newer OPVault format. OPVault is faster, more reliable, and works with many versions of 1Password:
- 1Password 7 for Mac, Windows, iOS and Android
- 1Password 6 for Mac, iOS, and Android
- 1Password 4 for Windows
If you are using the older data format, 1Password 7 for Android will offer to do the conversion to OPVault for you. After opening 1Password, you’ll see a prompt like this:
When the conversion completes successfully, you’ll need to reconfigure sync on your other devices and have 1Password on those devices sync with the new OPVault folder. If you’re unsure of the sync location, go into 1Password on your Android device and tap Settings > Sync to locate it.
If you encounter an error during the conversion, you’ll get a prompt to report the error to us. Please report the error, and we’ll get back to you with the best way to convert to the OPVault format. If you use 1Password on other devices, please send us a diagnostic reports from those devices by email to allow us to help you faster.
