1PW Padlock Closing Mechanism

on 1PW6 there is a padlock located on the top right allowing you to quickly and safely close the application.
In 1PW7 that padlock is either not available, not showing, or has changed and im not seeing it?
It is a security risk to close the application with the red x, thinking youve closed it and then anyone can click on the application in the dock and its automatically open.... it seems a bit clunky to have to go to the top menu bar and quit the app everytime you want to simply close it?
Bring back the funky safe padlock please! :)

Welcome to the forum, @Hana! Thanks for the question. It has indeed changed -- we removed the "padlock" icon at the top right of the main 1Password window because it caused too much trouble for users: people would try to click-and-drag 1Password to a new location on their screen or resize it, and wind up locking it instead. Others never knew what it was for (including a few who called it the "handbag icon"!).

To be clear, 1Password would lock even under such conditions once any of the time limits you set in Preferences > Security expired. But what is definitely a security risk is to walk away from your Mac when it is turned on and signed into your user account, in any environment that could be hostile (work, cafe, etc). Locking 1Password in such a situation would only solve some of your potential problems/exposure.

However, if you want to leave your Mac running and signed into your user account but you still want to lock 1Password, there are still several ways to do that: in 1Password 7 for Mac, the manual lock function is available 1Password menu:

...and as a keyboard shortcut ( ^⌥⇧⌘L ). Additionally, for your specific use-case, you can also set 1Password in Preferences > Security to lock when the main window is closed:

    Hope this helps! :)
