New annoying behavior Touch ID on Mac

I have set my version of 1Password 6 to use Touch ID. When the mini version opens, I can sign in by touching the Touch ID button. However, recently something has changed in the main program window. Now, I have to first click on the window to activate, then use Touch ID. Having to switch between the trackpad and the Touch ID button is irritating, although obviously the program still functions.

Is there a setting that I inadvertently changed?

Thank you.

  • Hi @sawxray ,

Earlier, the main window would show the TouchID prompt even when people had 1Password set to start on login. This was undesirable when lots of apps were starting up when first logging in.

So, the behaviour you are experiencing is expected. 1Password 7 is a little smarter about it. In some cases it'll show the TouchID prompt automatically. There is also a keyboard shortcut to bring it up.

In your case, you can either upgrade to 7 to get the improved behaviour, or press the keyboard shortcut to open mini - ⌘⌥\ and it will automatically prompt for TouchID.

    Cheers,
    Kevin
