Need to combine two personal accounts within a family account

My husband and I have separate personal vaults within a family vault. (Neither of us are the primary administrator on the vault.) It's very annoying trying to get access to each other's vault and we don't want to put the data in a shared vault for the rest of the family to see. So it seems like combing our two vaults is the best solution.

1) Is that true?

2) what's the easiest/best way to do that?

  • Hi, @reebs26.

If you don't want to have separate personal vaults, you can certainly just use the same account, but it's not how we usually recommend setting things up. Another option is to create a new vault that you share with just your husband. The "Shared" vault is accessible to everyone, but you can create your own shared vault that is not. Then you can move items you want to share into that vault, and keep things you don't need to share in your respective personal vaults.

You can read more about creating and sharing vaults here: https://support.1password.com/create-share-vaults/

    Hope that helps!

If we create a shared vault for just the two of us, will the administrator of this family account be able to access that shared vault?

Family Organizers always have full control over vaults in the account. This means that they could give themselves read and/or write access to the shared vault.
