I recently tired of Safari and switched to Chrome. 1Password has not been playing well with Chrome.
The main problem is 1Password constantly locks and I have to keep entering the master password. I tried version X, then deleted it and switched to the regular Mac extension. But do you have any tips for getting 1Password to work with Chrome? Frustrating so far.

There are settings determining when 1PW locks in Preferences > Security.
Does adjusting those help at all?

@MJH - @danco's already suggested what I would have: you can adjust the timeout (and other locking scenarios) in Preferences > Security within 1Password. It can't be set to let you never enter your Master Password, as that would be both a security hole and also dangerous (you'd likely forget your Master Password), but you can change it pretty widely there.
