How to try membership without losing Mac and Windows versions already in use
I have been using 1P for yonks on my Apple machines and devices, my husband uses it on his Windows machine. We'd like to try out membership but don't want to lose our working iterations until we decide whether or not to go membership. What do we need to do or not do with our current programs?
1Password Version: 6.8.9, iOS 7.2.1 Win 4.6.2.626
Extension Version: 4.7.3.90 Safari
OS Version: OSX 10.13.6, iOS 12.0.1,, Win 7
Sync Type: Dropbox
Referrer: forum-search:Membership trial with 1P v.6

@JoyceC: Good question! In fact, the (current -- 1Password 4 is a bit old) apps are the same either way, and you can use both local vaults (like the one you're syncing with Dropbox) and 1Password.com accounts simultaneously.
However, you probably don't want to use both with the same data, as then you'd have duplicates of everything. Since it sounds like you have your data in Dropbox though, I'd recommend following this guide start to finish:
Move your existing 1Password data to a 1Password account
At the end, you'll have the apps setup with only your new 1Password.com account...but then you'll still have your original data in Dropbox if you decide to go back to how you were using 1Password before. Let me know what you think. :)

Is there a newer extension than 4? I'm using 6 as the main program. But the directions seem fairly simple. We're leaving today but will probably give it a try when we're settled. Thanks for the quick response.

@JoyceC: The current version of the 1Password desktop extension is 4.7.3, and this is what you'll get if you install it from our site:
https://support.1password.com/1password-extension/
That's all you need. However, if you're running Safari 12 or higher, it won't work with the old version of 1Password for Mac you're using. It requires the new Safari App Extension built into 1Password 7.
