I've always used touch ID on iPhone 7 to access. All of a sudden it doesn't promt Touch ID any longer instead asks Master password. I forgot my Masterpassword. How can I access the app? Thank you

  • Hi @Yupankki

Unfortunately the short answer is that you cannot. The Master Password is what is used to encrypt your data and as such is what is required to decrypt it. When using Touch ID an obfuscated secret equivalent of your Master Password is stored in the iOS keychain (I'm over simplifying a bit, but that's basically it). If that secret is removed from the keychain for any reason the only way to regenerate it is with the Master Password.

We have some tips that may be helpful here:

If you forgot your Master Password or you can't unlock 1Password

    I hope that helps!

It will ask you for your master password if it doesn't recognize your fingerprint after a few tries when unlocking the app using TouchID.

Did you somehow save a copy of the Emergency kit PDF file on your computer somewhere safe. It would be able to let you write down your master password.

  • The Emergency Kit is a great resource. :)
