I found a thread for 1P6 beta that said this problem was fixed, but I find it nearly impossible to read and apparently disabled.

    That problem does not exist on the supported versions of macOS. 1Password 6 was created in 2016 and is no longer under active development. We will not be updating it for Mojave's display changes. You can, however, upgrade to 1Password 7 for support for that, and Safari 12, among other things.
