Weird Safari Extension version

In Chrome and Firefox, I have 1Password browser extension version 4.7.3.90. Safaris is showing version 7.2.2 which is equivalent to my version of the 1Password app installed. When I go to the 1Password site with safari and install the browser extension I end up with both 4.7.3.90 and 7.2.2 installed browser extension in Safari and two extension icons in the toolbar. 4.7.3.90 can be easily deleted but the 7.2.2 browser extension says I need to delete 1Password. What is the correct configuration of Safari?

1Password Version: 7.2.2
Extension Version: 4.7.3.90, 7.2.2
OS Version: 10.14.1
Sync Type: family plan

  • Hi @stagrlee

Only v7.2.2, which is the "Safari App Extension" for 1Password, should be installed in Safari. Apple has deprecated the frameworks we use in v4.7.

    Safari Extensions
    Deprecated .safariextz-style Safari Extensions
Support for .safariextz-style Safari Extensions installed from the Safari Extensions Gallery is deprecated with Safari 12 on macOS. Submissions to the Safari Extensions Gallery will no longer be accepted after December 2018. Developers are encouraged to transition to Safari App Extensions.
