So confused... about 1Password now
I'll explain this as best I can. I've been using 1Password for many years. I bought the standalone licenses. I'm running 6.8.8 that I bought from the app store. I'm not even sure how I'm syncing. But, I think it's through iCloud. I use 1Password on my iMac, my iPhone, and my iPad. I recently bought a Chromebook and want to use 1Password there. This is where I'm lost.
On my Chromebook, the 1Password browser extension was already there when I signed into Chrome. Great. The problem is 1Password wouldn't launch saying it needed the helper app. I Googled this and found that I guess I should be using 1Password X on the Chromebook. I removed the 1Password extension I had been using and installed 1Password X. The problem is it wants me to sign in and I don't have a secret key or a 1Password account. When I came back to my iMac, the Chrome extension here has been changed to 1Password X. So, now I cannot sign into 1Password on my iMac or the Chromebook since I don't have an account.
I'm happy with 1Password 6, but I'd be willing to go to 7. I'm not interested in the subscription service. I want the standalone license. So, here are my questions:
1.) What is 1Password X?
2.) If I purchase 1Password 7, do I have to buy a license for my Mac and for my iOS devices?
3.) Is it seamless going from 1Password 6 to 1Password 7 or 1Password X (whatever 1Password X is)?
4.) If I go to 1Password 7, will I get an account so that I can sign in again? Right now, I can't sign in on Chrome on either my iMac or my Chromebook.
Thanks! I love 1Password, but these new options have me very confused. I'm almost ready to give up and use LastPass.
