"1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini"

Just tried to download/install the new update and now getting error message:

"1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini. Please restart 1Password. If this does not help, please contact AgileBits support."

Reboot didn't help. I'm running OS 10.9.5 on an Intel Core 2 Duo MBP.

Anybody else having this problem? Anyone from AgileBits can tell me how to get 1PW running again?

    When you refer to "the new update" what version of 1P5 are you referring to? 1P5 will run only under OS X Yosemite.

    If you're running 1P4 try quitting 1P using ⌃⌘Q (ctrl+cmd+q) and then re-starting 1P.

    I'm running 4.4.3. 1P4 won't even start - it gives that error message and will not open - so I cannot quit the program as you suggested. A full system reboot did not solve the problem.

    Also just tried downloading another copy of 4.4.3 from the legacy downloads section on the website and the same problem occurs on the new copy.
