Master password won't open 1 password

I am trying to open 1-password and when I enter my master pass the window reads: Connecting 1,2,3,4…….ect and just keeps counting.
Also, I am unable to locate the password data file on my hard drive so that I can update or even purchase the latest version. When I go to the 1 password application I get the Welcome page asking me to find my existing data, but it does not come up.

    I'm sorry to hear about the trouble.

    What version of 1Password are you using? To check, please open 1Password and go to 1Password > About 1Password in the OS X menu bar.

    Also, what version of OS X are you using?
