1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini [Fixed in version 6.5.5]
Update from AgileBits:
Thanks everyone for your patience. We've identified the issue that prevented 1Password for Mac from opening or updating, which has been fixed in the newly released version 6.5.5.
If you're seeing "1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini" or aren't able to update the app, install the latest version and restart your Mac to fix it.
Please reach out if you're still having issues. We are very sorry for the trouble this caused!
.
The situation started when applying a recent MacOS update. We're running on 10.12.3. When opening 1Password we get the following error...
"1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini. Please quit 1Password and start it again." Which doesn't fix the problem.
What I've done so far.
1. Followed all directions at https://support.1password.com/error-connect-to-mini/
2. Completely removed 1Password and reinstalled it. Twice.
3. Rebooted. Yes, 3 times.
Note that none of this involves the Mac App store. We've always DL'd from Agile and installed. I thought I would try the Mac Appstore route but theres no way I'm chunking out $64 again.
Long time user of 1Password but the App should be more resilient than this. I would argue that if an extension of the core app wasn't responding that it should mark that extension down and still leave the core application usable. In this case, there is literally nothing I can do to get back up and running. Fortunately we have other devices to lean on at the moment.
Appreciate any help or ideas you may have.

I have tried reinstalling the app. Same crash happens. Also tried downgrading to 6.5.2 and 6.5.1. Same issue.

I am currently getting this error and I have tried all the steps on this page,
https://support.1password.com/error-connect-to-mini/
but with no success.
What else can I try? The version of 1Password that I use is directly from the website and not the Mac App Store.

I've also uninstalled and re-installed but I am still encountering this issue.

Same problem. Somebody please fix this ASAP. I can't have my password vault (which I rely on every single day) not work. If I can't get this fixed, I'll be forced to resort to some stupid solution like a paper notebook in my safe in the garage which never, ever fails.
0 -
Very strange indeed, especially since it doesn't look like a local problem. Within the last minutes several same errors.

Same here, just registered to post the exact same thing. Please get this working again quickly. Realizing how screwed you are when you use 1Password for everything makes me reconsider using it at all. :|

Same with me, what's going on Agilebits Support?
0 -
Totally agree. I am seriously considering going back to paper notes in my safe. It never, ever fails.

I'm getting the same issue today.

Same here. Worked through the KBase article for this and it did not resolve the issue. Also uninstalled and reinstalled.

Same issue, pretty troubling... can't get to my passwords!

Yep. I am also getting a CODE SIGNING error on 2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword4-helper which is probably the root of my problem.

I have had the same issue and tried the same fix. I have an older version (3.8.22) which is working and has somehow kept up with all the logins that I set in version 6.

Time to go back to Apple Keychain.

I was using the app earlier today and then began to get this error message on both my desktop Mac and MacBook. Both were operating earlier today and now I have no way to access passwords. I sent in a diagnostic report. We will see what happens.

1Password will not load. I have been using it for a year or so but now for the first time it will not load onto finder. I get an error message "1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini" and "Please restart 1Password. If this does not help, please contact AgileBits support." So, here I am at your support site.

Same problem here. Just started today.

I have the exact same situation as calivw78 described. I went through the exact same steps .. I also rebooted 3 times.
Moreover I have the exact same problem on two different Macs, also running MacOS 10.12.3. I went through the same steps on both Macs with no luck.
The only place where 1Password is able to run is under iOS.
I am going to ping the 1Password folks on twitter and refer them to this thread since it seems several of us have the same problem.

Same problem, just started today.

Same issue here. Running 10.12.3 on a 2012 MBP Retina.
It seems to me it occured after a reboot (I hadn't rebooted in a while).I've tried:
- Multiple reboots
- Deleting 1Password.app and download and install a new one.
- Fix permissions
- Reset "Launch Services"
I was really close to nuke all 1Password related and start over fresh, but thankfully I found this thread.
(TIP: You can access you passwords through Safari. Right click on you keychain --> Show Package Contents --> Open the html file in Safari (does not work in Chrome, not sure about Firefox or other browsers))

I have the exact same issue. I can't launch 1Password due to 1Password Mini connection error and I don't have the Mac App Store version. AgileBits please help!

I'm getting the same problem. Restarted several times, used the support steps, reinstalled. Running Mac OS 10.12.13, nothings working. Just glad I still have it on iOS or I would be sunk, haha.

Yes, same problem that just started today on Mac but so far iOS unaffected.

I posted a tweet to @1Password asking them to look at this thread. See:

It is interesting to note that this problem started just today, on two different MaxOS machines.

Having the same issue here...a clean install of macOS 10.12.3.
Cannot launch 1Password. Tried the current release and the Beta channel.

Same issue with me. VERY FRUSTRATING! :(

Exact same issue. This is a new PC for me, brand new to Sierra.
Agile, get your thumb out and fix this!
