Can't update to 7.0.7 (MacOS); Caught in "Can't update…" loop.

My Mac App Store says I need to update to v. 7.0.7; however, after trying for a minute or two, a popup says "Can't update while 1Password is open." I have both clicked to button to close 1PW and proceed with the update and I have manually closed 1PW, to no avail. After a moment of trying, the same message appears. I'm caught in this loop.

You need to close 1Password 7 completely. Try using control + option + command + Q.

Tanks a lot, but this is not the thing. I closed the app with cmd+q and it is not in the task bar any more (cmd+alt+esc). Updating is not possible, the warning says i have to close the app completely but it's closed - for shure!

  • @MacBaetz,

If you did cmd+q then you didn't read @Stephen_C's post. You need to do cmd+opt+control+q.

Many thanks, @Stephen_C ! Worked like a charm! (And it showed back up in the taskbar a moment after I opened the app, in case anyone's anxious about not immediately seeing it.)
