Hey 1Password community!
Weโre thrilled to announce the release of our streamlined sign-in experience, now available to all users. This update makes signing into 1Password on a new device faster and easier than ever, without sacrificing security. ๐
You can now scan a QR code via 1Password using your iOS or Android mobile device, confirm the new device, and youโre instantly signed in โ no need to type in your account password, Secret Key, or other info.
After listening to your feedback, weโve fine-tuned the sign-in process to make it more convenient:
The QR code flow works whether youโre adding 1Password to a new desktop or mobile device. Already signed in on your phone and want to sign in on your desktop? Easy! Or if you're signed in on your desktop and want to add your phone, the same process applies.
If youโre using Single Sign-On (SSO) on your 1Password Business account, youโll still complete your IdP verification.
This isnโt just about convenience, itโs about security too. The QR code creates a secure, encrypted connection between devices, ensuring your credentials stay private. Plus, the code itself doesnโt contain sensitive info, making it safe from screenshots or shoulder surfers. ๐ก๏ธ Find more info about the security behind it here.
๐ก Still prefer your current sign-in process? No problem! Existing manual sign-in options are still available, so you can choose the method that works best for you.

If you've added a YubiKey as a second factor for your 1Password account then, when adding your 1Password account to a new device or browser, you'll still be prompted for that YubiKey when using the new sign-in experience after you scan the code and confirm the sign-in on your iOS or Android device.

Does this new login replace being prompted for a Yubikey? I've set up a new key, try to log in from Chrome in incognito and I get the message to scan from my mobile device. How do I test getting promted for the Yubikey?

I'm sorry that you're running into an issue when using 1Password in the browser. The feature being discussed in this thread only applies to when you're adding your 1Password account to a new device or browser for the first time, not when you're unlocking 1Password in order to fill Login credentials.
To help me better understand the situation I'd like to ask you to take a screenshot of what you're seeing and attach it to your reply:
Make sure that there's nothing sensitive in your screenshot.

Maybe I m missing something, but I am not sure having to scan in a QR code to from my iPhone is easier than simply typing in my vault password. It means I have to open my iphone (another device) to log into my Windows computer, is that correct?
This new feature is meant to streamline the sign-in process when you first add your 1Password account to a new device or browser. Instead of having to enter your email address, Secret Key, and account password you can just scan the QR code and be instantly signed in. Once an account is added to a device or browser, you'll unlock 1Password using your account password or biometrics.
You can already sign into 1Password in the browser using a QR code, here's a screenshot:

Since this update, I have found the manual sign in process, while using Chrome, automatically opens the main/traditional 1PW login screen in a new window (chrome tab). Meaning I have to now, click back on the original Chrome tab where I was attempting to login so I have access to 1pw for a specific website login screen. Is anyone else having this issue? I am using Chrome -> Version 131.0.6778.109 (Official Build) (x86_64), 1Password for Mac 8.10.52. Frankly it is a royal pain. Why is it doing this?
