1password in browser with pin unlock

Hello I use in a second desktop with Windows OS only 1Password in browers and no desktop app installed.

Have you in your plans to give the choise to unlock 1Password with pin without to insert master password? For example like Bitwarden model.

Thanks

Thanks for reaching out! You can already unlock 1Password in the browser using your Windows Hello PIN:

You'll need to install the 1Password for Windows desktop app first since Windows Hello unlock is handled by the desktop app: Download 1Password

You mentioned that you haven't yet installed the desktop app, was there a specific reason why you haven't? Let me know if you ran into an issue that I can help with.

Hi Dave, instead of pin on the PC, where I use only 1Password browser extension without the desktop app, is it possible to unlock 1Password by scanning a QR code with an enabled smartphone? I read that this option should be available in my profile, but I can't find it. I should enable access to the 1Password portal using a passkey and not with a password and secret key, but I don't see this option. Thank for reply

Thanks for following up! Unlocking 1Password using a QR code (passkey) isn't possible for existing accounts but we're currently testing that functionality in a public beta: Unlock 1Password with a passkey (beta)

Hopefully we'll have more to share for existing accounts in the future.

      Hi Dave,

the reason is that I use it also in my company for few credentials and I don’t want to install desktop version. Thank for your answer but I already know your suggestion.

Thanks for the reply. Installing the desktop app is required in order to unlock 1Password in the browser using your device PIN since the browser extension doesn't have the ability to use Windows Hello by itself.

I'm not personally aware of any plans to bring other PIN unlock functionality to 1Password in the browser. That being said, while I can't make any promises, I've shared your request with the team internally.
