Missing add browser button
Apparently, to add an unsupported browser, I can click "Add Browser".
But there is no "Add Browser" button:
The log file goes on an on about "Verifying browser", followed by, "Additional error context: Process is not cmd.exe"
It does note that the browser is signed by OSSign, which is correct for Librewolf, and it is looking at the correct copy of librewolf.exe. The parent process of that being cmd.exe is up to Microsoft. I would think that since I've clicked on it, the parent process would be explorer.exe in the normal case. I did try launching a cmd.exe terminal window and running librewolf from there, but that did not help.
Hello folks,
I'm sorry that the "Add Browser" button is missing in the 1Password app for certain users. Thank you to everyone who submitted a diagnostics report. We've been able to reproduce the issue on our end, which doesn't seem to effect everyone, and we've opened a bug report with our development team for further investigation.
In the meantime, you can continue using 1Password in an unsupported browser even if you're affected by this issue. However, you'll need to unlock 1Password in that browser separately from the desktop app using your account password.
I'll share an update in this thread as soon as a fix becomes available or we have more news to share.

On 8.12.22 now, and the Add Browser button is back and working!

I'm glad that you see the Add Browser button again. I can reproduce the issue even when using 8.12.22 on my end and the issue is still open with our development team.
Out of curiosity, did you recently make any changes to your device or install any new updates? And can you share what version of Windows you're currently running?

Windows 11 Pro 25H2 (26200.8457). I don't remember explicitly updating Windows at all, I do have a current pending Windows update though. Basically used my computer as normal, and today decided to check again to see if the option was there. I think Zen browser updated itself, maybe that was part of it, but otherwise I didn't perform any major system changes.

Re-commenting this at the root level of this thread in case anyone missed it.
- Uninstall your 1password
- Delete the 1password folder in: C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Local
- Install 8.11.22 from https://app-updates.agilebits.com/product_history/OPW8 (may need to ctrl+f to find it)
- Launch 1password. It will tell you it needs to update on next restart. Ignore for now. Go to the browser settings and add zen.
- Test that the extension in zen communicates with the desktop app
- Restart 1password to install the latest update
Your zen exe should still be added and the connection working, but the add browser button will be gone again.

Thank you for sharing this! I've passed this along to our development team so that they're aware.
Generally, we recommend sticking with the latest version of 1Password whenever possible, since older versions don't include the newest improvements, bug fixes, and security updates, and can sometimes lead to unexpected issues. I'd also be cautious about deleting the app's local cache, especially if the desktop app is the only place you're currently signed in, as doing so could leave you locked out of your account.
That said, I'm glad those steps helped get things working again and provided a workaround for you.

I have the Zen browser installed and I would like to add it to 1password. Following the documentation, I have the 1password extension installed in Zen (through the Firefox store). On the 1password app, I navigated: (three dots) -> Settings -> Browser and I see the "Connect to additional browsers" section header, but I don't see the "Add Browser" button.
Running on Windows 11 Pro 25H2 w/ 1Password for Windows 8.12.21 (81221001). I have restarted 1password, fully closing it via task tray and unlocking it once again.

Found a workaround..
1. Uninstall your 1password
2. Delete the 1password folder in: C:\Users\{your username}\AppData\Local
3. Install 8.11.22 from https://app-updates.agilebits.com/product_history/OPW8 (may need to ctrl+f to find it)
4. Launch 1password. It will tell you it needs to update on next restart. Ignore for now. Go to the browser settings and add zen.
5. Test that the extension in zen communicates with the desktop app
6. Restart 1password to install the latest update
Your zen exe should still be added and the connection working, but the add browser button will be gone again. - SpacecraftNew Contributor
Same here. Some kind of regression. Anyone know if it still works in an older build?

Hi KeithHenrickson, welcome to the Community!
It's definitely strange that the Add Browser button is missing for you - I've checked on my end and I'm seeing this button in the latest version of 1Password for Windows.
Could you let me know which version of the 1Password desktop app you're running? You can check this under Settings > About. This will ensure that I'm testing on the same version you're using.

I am also having the same problem:
Downloaded of 1 hour before this post and tried to reinstall, delete data, and download from the store vs website.1Password Version: Windows 8.12.21 (81221001)
Extension Version: 8.12.21.1
OS Version: Windows 11

I have no idea how to read the diagnostic's. So I asked AI (Claude) and it said this.- spokeNew Contributor
