Option to include Archive in Search

Please add an option to include Archived Items in the search, if desired. As a long-time 1Password customer, I have 250 archived items, and it's only going to get bigger. It is inevitable and ridiculous that I cannot perform a simple search.

Thank you for the feedback. The Find tool (available at the top of any item list, including the Archive) searches through a more limited set of fields. When using the Find tool, you can search for things like the item's title or the username:

The Search tool is more sophisticated and will look through other fields like the website address. I can see how it would be useful to include results from the Archive when searching and I've filed a feature request on your behalf to have our team look into adding this functionality in the future.

Thanks for the illustration. I was using your search bar at the top of the archive page, which always worked perfectly on non-archived items, and I assumed that the search bar had the same functionality in the archive. Over the years, I was not looking for the magnifier icon, or I thought it was redundant.  I avoided seeking help until my archives were too numerous. Thanks for submitting the suggestion, it may help others.

I might have a login for XYZ Bank. I might have a credit card for XYZ Bank. I put in XYZ Bank and nothing happens. Nothing comes up. It shows nothing.

Thanks, Dave, for your always timely reply.

The find tool on my Mac doesn't work for searching archives.

It ranges from unreliable to nonexistent.

I tested it before I made the suggestion, went back and rechecked again, and it's no good.

Your long-time customers are going to need this tool because I know I do; 250 archived items is no joke, and I do delete anything I can.

Thank you for your reply! I’d be happy to submit a feature request on your behalf to add an option for the search tool to include archived items. Could you share a bit more about your experience with the Find tool? When you describe it as “unreliable” or “nonexistent,” what specifically is happening?

The Find tool searches a more limited set of fields compared to the search tool, are you finding that the information you need is in fields that Find doesn’t cover within your archived items?

  • Hello Zwerk! 👋

Thank you for the feedback! Have you tried using the Find tool to locate items in the Archive? You can use the Find tool by clicking on the magnifying glass icon at the top of the Archive item list or by pressing Command-F (on Mac) or Ctrl-F (on Windows).

Let me know if that doesn't work for you.
