Passkey unlock options

I see in your future plans that you will support unlocking 1password from multiple passkeys from different devices. This is great because, obviously, we all want some "backup" way to ensure access to our data. Will you also support hardware security keys, such as a Yubikey? I find the Yubikey to be too cumbersome for daily use. But it does make a very nice (and secure) last resort authentication method. It would certainly be a more secure "last resort" than using a passphrase.

    Thanks for the suggestions all.

We're certainly mindful of the need for great recovery options for passkey users. In my opinion, these options will need to be even better than the options we have for passwords.

What I can share right now is that we're working on a new recovery system which will make it possible to get back into your account even if you lose your passkey or all the devices that contain it. We consider a robust recovery feature to be a requirement for a wider release of passkey unlock.

We're also thinking about the idea of supporting hardware security keys as a means to store or back up the passkey for 1Password. There are some additional complications that need to be worked out before we can support this properly β€” namely, the security key isn't enough by itself to recover access to 1Password, because you also need access to a trusted device with the 1Password app. But one way or another we agree that security keys will play a role.

Appreciate everyone giving this early private beta a shot and being so proactive with your feedback; it will help us make a better product in the long run.

I'd like to see a method of storing the same passkey for your account on multiple ecosystems rather than differing passkeys for the same account.
