I am bouncing between my Mac and my iPhone. My bank account (as an example) works great on MacOS as I login through the browser. On iOS, there is a dedicated app and I cannot get the saved login to trigger. I tried saving a "new" password for iOS to find out the website associated with the app or the trigger but one is not offered. I have this for a number of apps... how should I configure to use the same entry for both Mac and IOS?21Views0likes3Comments"Download Your Information. We want happy customers, not trapped ones."
I have notice in this forum over many years, questions regarding 'exporting data'. The title above is from the 1Password website Privacy Policy. 1Password appears to offer 2 ways of exporting data - 1PUX or CSV. The CSV route, exports a limited set of fields and so anyone making extensive use of 'Custom Fields' is not going to get 'all their data'. The route producing a 1PUX file, apparently 'DOES' export all data, including 'Custom Fields' but not 'Passcodes' 1Password kindly explains the '1PUX' , "Unencrypted Export Format" which includes 'File Structures', 'Export Attributes', and numerous other "Attributes' - which frankly, for the average end user, is confusing and unattainable. We are generally not trained in software development, data engineering or degree level understanding of JSON (whatever that is) If I wish to access 'MY' data, as a normal enduser, it appears to be impossible. I would very much like to download ALL my data in a format that does not require me to have a PHD! To reference your own words above - I would like to download my information and be a happy customer, not a trapped one. I would be grateful if someone could address this please. Note: I am aware of the security issues regarding unencrypted files - but that should be my choice, with 'my' data. Thank you58Views0likes5CommentsSetting for 1Password at Home on Firefox Browser
Recently I've been getting a little confirmation box every time autofill behavior is enabled on my browser for any site. I'd like to bypass if I could. Perhaps the setting is within the edit menu? I'm assuming this is simple, but don't know. Thanks for your assistance.Solved17Views0likes3CommentsSecret Key and Recovery Code Best Practices
Any best practice do/don't recommendations for storing secret key and recovery code IF you want make 1password accessible in an "oh **bleep**, I lost my phone" situation? Your account is always more secure the less you have physical and digital copies of your login credentials. It is also much more difficult for you to access in an emergency situation if you lose everything. How would you store digital and physical copies of the security keys used to log in if you want to prepare for emergency access WHILE avoiding unnecessary security risks? 1. Do you store physical copies of your Secret Key and Recovery Code in the same location? 2. Do you carry either of them with you when you travel? 2. Do you store digital copies of either of those codes in plain text files online? 3. Do you enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) for 1password or keep it off?36Views0likes2CommentsHelp Getting Started
Dave, I've read through your instructions, and even had an IT pro help me setup 1P. But I can't seem to make anything work. I think 1P is too complicated for a simpleton like me. I am a personal user, but want SECURITY. Often times your instructions don't match what I see on my phone or laptop. Should I cancel 1P, and get something more user friendly?43Views0likes4CommentsSyncing w/ Google Drive
when syncing G: Drive yesterday I noticed that a One Password file named OnePasswordCoreLocalization was blocked from Syncing to the G: Drive. I for one do not want any of my 1Password files synced with any cloud service, ie G: Drive, Dropbox or even iCloud. My question is, does 1Password block all syncing activities from outside storage entities so that I do not have to do anything extraordinary to protect my passwords and credit card information?18Views0likes3CommentsHow do you guys organize multiple items belonging to the same server?
Hello! I'm setting up a home server, and there are several accounts or usernames that it has, not to mention other items that should be stored. For example: The root login The admin login for a Windows VM A username/password for a Samba share that will be used by other computers to do backups to the server The Windows license key used in that VM Windows security questions I anticipate more over time. None of these are passwords that would be automatically entered, like for a website login. I've read that the 1Password philosophy is one username/password pair per 1Password item, but for this purpose that seems like a lot of disorganization. To me -- and maybe I'm thinking about this incorrectly -- it makes more sense to group together all passwords and items for this one server. I could just make a single Secure Note to store everything, but then all the passwords are just "out in the open" in the note, plus you lose the ability to quickly generate new passwords. I realize there are multiple ways to structure things, so I'm curious how some of you organize this type of thing. Thanks!33Views0likes1Comment
