New 1Password mini Now in Beta!

Good day, 1Password beta testers!

Today is a day I’ve been looking forward to for quite some time. Since the introduction of 1Password 7 there’s been one piece of feedback that we’ve heard consistently (and sometimes vocally): “I don’t like the new 1Password mini”. Initially we took a “wait and see” approach with much of the feedback. After all, the new design was a significant departure from 1Password 6, and maybe it just needed some getting used to. As time went on, even we found ourselves occasionally confused. We knew something had to be done.

Toward the end of last year, we put together a small team to evaluate the issues with the current implementation, identify the core use cases 1Password mini needs to cover, and begin work on a fresh take. Today is your first glimpse into a multi-month project to simplify, focus, and correct the course of 1Password mini.

Our beta release notes always end with a call for you to join us here on the forum and let us know if you have any questions or feedback. Please do take it to heart with this one. We’d love to know what you think.

Known Issues

  • To access Credit Cards and Identities use the category menu. We're working to show these items automatically when you’re on a page where you need them.
  • We're tweaking the password generator.

Things to Try

  • Drag username and password fields and 1Password mini disappears until you're done.
  • Double-click an item in the list to quickly fill it.
  • 1Password mini is right where you need it. Click the menu bar, and it's there. Click the 1Password button in your browser, and it's there.
  • No matter where you open 1Password mini, you can always move it somewhere else.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Roo
