Installed OS catalina yesterday and 1Password won't open

Can you please check in the System Preferences app under Users & Groups > [your account] > Login Items. Do you see 1Password listed there? If so, please remove it, and restart your Mac.

Ben, I have an older version of 1Password, I don't know if I need to upgrade it. Not sure what to do since it won't open.

@gm1660p: 1Password for Mac version 4 was developed in 2013 for OS X Mountain Lion and Mavericks. Now may be a good time to upgrade, if you're finding it doesn't work well (or at all) on macOS Catalina in 2019. You can get that along with all the apps and updates, automatic offsite backup, and no more separate license purchasing or sync configuration as part of a 1Password membership.
