Does running 1P over a VPN provide more or less security than not doing so?

Hello,

I have a 1P Families account. I primarily access it from a Windows 10 laptop & an Android phone running OS 11, but occasionally do so from Apple iPad & iPhone devices as well.

I run current ExpressVPN on all the devices & am wondering if running 1P over a VPN provides more or less security than not doing so or if it's just a plain bad practice period?
