Is there a need for the windows app?

Hello, coming over from Lastpass and I noticed there are browsers extensions as well as a windows app for 1Password. I installed everything but I'm not sure where the windows app comes into play. I uninstalled it and the browser extensions still appear to work

Hi @cbuckeye20! Welcome to 1Password.

You don't need the Windows desktop app if you don't want to. If you are using 1Password in the browser as extension you don't need the desktop app. This browser extension is working all alone with a 1Password membership.

If you want to use a standalone license together with a local vault then you need to use the Windows desktop app together with the 1Password classic extension. Only here you are able to use a local vault.

In addition to what DenalB wrote, certain things can only be done in the desktop app (for example, importing and exporting data). You can do almost everything in the browser extension for sure, but the desktop app might come in handy too :)
