No autofill options available in Chrome on macOS

Heya legends,

I've just recently moved 1Password 7 with the desktop installed and the correct extension (1Password extension (desktop app required)). Using Chrome Version 90.0.4430.212. The computer is freshly installed with macOS 11.4, running on a 13-inch, 2019 Macbook Pro.

No matter what I do, I don't seem to get the autofill options available for credentials that are stored in 1Password. I either need to click on the extension icon, or the icon in my toolbar and it typically prompts to the correct credential to autofill.

So far I've tried the following:

  • Remove & reinstall 1Password 7
  • Remove & reinstall the 1Password extension (desktop app required) from the Chrome store
  • Enable/disable the extension
  • Reboot macOS
  • Reinstall Chrome

In addition the icon in Chrome indicating 1Password is installed and enabled is always greyed out and never the typical blue/white we're used to. The 1Password icon never appears next to username/password fields. Not sure if that means the extension isn't working properly?

In the settings for 1Password all of the options appear to be displaying correctly in the preferences for the browser section. This only appears after installing the correct extension in Chrome.

Any help you can provide would be awesome!
Cheers.

    Hi @ju111ce!

The 1Password icon never appears next to username/password fields.

This is the right behavior for the classic browser extension (the "desktop app required" one) which is invoked with a keyboard shortcut. If you want the new extension which shows up inside form fields instead, you can download it from here ;)

Ok great, thanks @ag_ana ! I just installed the desktop app and classic browser extension because I wasn't happy with how often I was prompted to enter my master password (I frequently close my browser).

Will try and co-exist with both the desktop app and the new browser extension.

We have good news about the locking behavior of the new extension then ;)
