How to avoid migrating touch-id issue to new Mac?

Touch-id isn't working for me (as described in https://1password.community/discussion/comment/465535) and I have been living with it since I didn't want to mess with my keychain data. However, I am getting a new Mac -- what do I need to do to avoid this issue moving to my new Mac when I migrate my data (I would like to migrate keychain data not related to this issue).

    Hi @kevink707b!

By reading that discussion, my understanding is that this is an Apple issue, so I am not sure there is anything you can really do to prevent this from happening. But I would imagine that installing macOS from scratch would help, since 1Password will just use the new keychain.

  • @kevink707b,

Your best bet is to use iCloud keychain to get your keychain items transferred over rather than copying the keychain from your old machine to the new one via Time Machine restore/apple's setup assistant/manually.
