Initial issues: Open and Fill, Vault editing and drag and drop
Hi,
Some initial bits and bobs having given it a whirl. Wasn't sure whether to create threads for issues, or how the best idea is for submitting them, so just going to put everything.
Bugs
- The Open and Fill button next to passwords does nothing
- Unable to modify or delete vaults from the sidebar
- Unable to drag search results to vaults
- Unable to edit tags from the sidebar (can't remember if I could do this in 7)
In terms of dragging search results to vaults:
- Search for something
- Press enter to display the filtered results
- If you try and drag the results to a vault nothing happens and it won't be added.
UX
I've already kvetched about the move to electron so will leave it there for now. Other than that:
- One thing that's cropped up and just wanted add +1 to is the use of white space, particularly in the lists.
- Miss having categories in the sidebar, and have yet to work out a better way of organising things; apparently collections do something, but not finding it particularly clear how they're meant to work and why another level of organisation is necessary.
Cheers,
Julian

Also just discovered that if I archive a version in Watchtower it automatically takes me back to the all items list, which is typically not what I want (do like the overview screen though).

Hi, @jnd. 👋 I'm sorry for the delayed reply.

I'm not able to reproduce this in the latest nightly. Is this still happening for you?
Unable to modify or delete vaults from the sidebar
This is a known issue on our list. 👍

Unable to drag search results to vaults
Oh, good find! I've passed this on to the team.

This one is a known issue as well.

Thanks for the vote! Our design team is still considering this.

Categories still exist, and you can filter any list of items by category at the top of the list. Vault collections are different. They allow you to group vaults that you'd like to use together. I have one that I use for the stuff I need regularly; it doesn't include Login items from the vault I share with my parents, for example.

Another great catch! I've filed an issue for this as well. Thank you!

Thanks for the detailed reply Rob!

This worked…briefly. Downloaded a new version and "Open and Fill" appears to have disappeared entirely...

Tell a lie; it is working fine; forgot that it was a hover state.

Hi @jnd, we have a couple updates for you on the requests you've provided here. I hope these are helpful for your workflow!
Specifically, in the latest Beta release (8.7.0-41), you can now:
- Edit and delete vaults
- Adjust the amount of white space between items, using either the compact or comfortable views
- Adjust the size of items with the interface zoom feature
- Select whether categories lives in your sidebar
Features 2-4 👆 can be done by going to Settings > Appearance. Vaults can be edited on Mac by using control-click.
You can find links to the full details on the release for each platform (Mac, Windows, Linux) here:
https://1password.community/discussion/128543/beta-12-of-2022-is-now-available-️#latest
And if you're still currently on the Beta channel, you should be able to just update the app and see the changes in effect immediately. 👍
Thanks again for your feedback, and best regards from the 1Password team! 🥳
