Item list information density in 1PW8

The item list information density in 1PW8 is (by my rough calculation) about 75% of what it was in 1PW7.

1PW8 seems to have shifted to the use of additional white space as an item separator rather than relying on the horizontal rule to separate more compactly displayed items as is the case in 1PW7. I would argue that this is a step back in terms of UX. Because the new item list only displays 3/4 of what would be displayed in 1PW7, it requires more list scrolling and significantly reduces the likelihood that the target item will appear in search results without scrolling. The additional white space doesn't provide significantly better object separation clarity vs the horizontal rule design; it just displays less information on limited screen real estate.
