1Password for Safari versus old version

When I installed the new version for MacOS 12 (beta), I signed into the 1Password service. Safari now has two extensions so I disabled the old version. What is the functional difference between the two extensions? I tried looking already. I disabled the old version. Everything works great, just wondering what the difference was. Thanks.

1Password Version: 7.8.7
Extension Version: 2.10.0
OS Version: macOS 12.0 (beta)

    Hey @dsm363 ,

Visually they are very similar and have the same functionality.
Behind the scenes, the old extension is bundled up inside the 1Password 7 desktop app and can't work without it. The new 1Password for Safari is more similar to the Chrome/Firefox extension - it can function without the desktop app and work as an independent extension.

In addition, 1Password for Safari will not connect to the 1Password 7 desktop app, but it will connect to 1Password 8 (early access beta available).

I see. The Safari extension and 1Password 7 should still be in sync though since they contact 1Password. Thanks.

    That's correct!
All 1Password apps and extensions are synced via your 1Password.com account :)
