Unable to install 1password

I recently restored my PC and had to install the programs all over again. I downloaded 1password and tried to install it, but a notification kept showing up telling me that 'setup has detected that Internet Explorer (or Windows Explorer) was currently running'. However, I didn't open IE at all. I tried a several times and even restart my computer but the problem wasn't solved. Any help?

I'm sorry that you are having some trouble. Please try this:

    1. Shut down your PC.
    2. Hold down the LEFT SHIFT key on your keyboard and turn on your PC. Keep holding down the LEFT SHIFT key until your computer has completely finished booting.
    3. Download the current version of 1Password for Windows directly from the AgileBits download page:

      http://agilebits.com/downloads

    4. Try installing 1Password for Windows using the installer you just downloaded.

I hope that helps. Please let me know.

same thing. method with holding down SHIFT not working for me

  • Hi @inthemix7,

Was there anything running that could have IE embedded in it? It's not just Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer but any apps that could embed IE in it.

Try killing any apps you have running, and open up task manager, to ensure there's no weird process running that you don't need. Once you do that, see if you can install 1Password now.

delet all files named agile on System Disk and installation begins.

  • Hi @inthemix7,

Interesting, thank you for letting us know. It sounds like the error message you've gotten was not really the actual error and you had may have an invalid cache for the 1Password's installer which prevented it from proceeding.

Do you remember if one of the files you found were in a directory related to the installer or setup?

Hopefully, it won't happen again. Again, thanks for letting us know.
