"Quick Access" window can't fill logins in browser now?
With 1Password 7, when I had a website's login screen active in my browser, I could trigger 1Password Mini, which would detect that website and could fill my login information. Now with 1Password 8, I try to do the same thing with the "Quick Access" window, and it seems to have no clue what website I have active. If I then search for the website and hit enter, it opens in a new tab. This clearly seems to be a regression, and it interrupts one of my primary workflows. Has this behavior been implemented on purpose? Or is it a bug? Or am I doing something wrong? Please help.

Hi @dgbeecher:
Great question. We rely on 1Password in the browser to perform the filling actions in the browser now. If you're using Safari, 1Password for Safari can be downloaded here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/1password-for-safari/id1569813296?mt=12
Let me know how you get on with that, or if you run into any trouble along the way!

Thank you for explaining, Jack. Here are the problems I encounter with this setup:
- 1Password for Safari often does not unlock when 1Password unlocks. Sometimes I have to unlock both apps separately. Sometimes I just have to press the unlock button on 1Password for Safari, and then it realizes it should be unlocked. Either way it is a frequent friction point that I did not encounter in the past.
- The Fill in Browser shortcut works only maybe 60% of the time. I don't know if it's a problem with the websites I'm on, or with the previously mentioned unlocking problem, or just some inherent unresponsiveness of 1Password for Safari. Needless to say this slows me down all the time.

Just chiming in to say I’m experiencing the same issue with the latest 1Password 8 beta / 1Password for Safari. Very often, initiating ⌘ - \ to fill a login kicks open 1Password 8 for the unlock, returns back to Safari, but the pop-over within the field does not refresh (even though 1Password is now unlocked). You must either grab the mouse again and click out of the field and back in to get it to realize it’s unlocked, or tab within fields and it will refresh itself. It’s always been a bit quirky like this throughout the betas, but it seems like it’s doing it more often now. At first thought this occurred on sites that had multiple logins, but it happens everywhere. Hopefully that helps. If there’s anything that can be tried let me know!
I am on the latest 1Password 8 beta (80600006) and latest App Store 1Password for Safari plugin (2.2.3).

Thanks for chiming in, MindFad. You gave a very good description of one of the problems with "Fill in Browser".
I have found another shortcoming with the new system (or perhaps I'm just not using it right). What do I do when I want to log into a website using a login that is contained in a collection other than my current one? In the past, I could trigger 1Password Mini, hit the keyboard shortcut (CMD-2) to switch to the relevant collection (or whatever they were called in 1Password 7), find that login, and press return to fill it. But now, I hit my "Fill in Browser" shortcut, and am shown the matching logins in my current collection, which are not the ones I want to use. I hit CMD-2, and nothing happens. There seems to be no way to switch collections via the popup under the login fields, and thus no way to find the login I want to use.
Next, I use my mouse to click 1Password in Safari's toolbar. (Already I'm unhappy -- I did not have to use my mouse in the old workflow -- is there no way to trigger this window using the keyboard?) I hit CMD-2 to try to switch collections, but again nothing happens. I then click the icon in the upper right of the window that opens to switch collections. (Again, I wonder why I have to use my mouse to do this.) I get confused because I do not see the same collections I set up in 1Password (see this forum post). Instead there's only my account name, and something called "All Accounts". Eventually I figure out that I need to select my account name (NOT "All Accounts") in order to see all possible logins. And finally I've found the one I'm looking for. It is there in the list among the other logins I did not want to use earlier. Because I was never able to switch to the collection I wanted, I have to mouse or arrow down past these other logins to select the one I want.
The previous reliable three-keystroke process was much easier.

Hey @dgbeecher:
The concept of collections hasn't made it to 1Password in the browser just yet. In the meantime, if you'd like that vault to always be available from the inline menu provided by 1Password in the browser, you can add that vault to show in All Vaults by right clicking the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar, choosing Settings, and scrolling down to Accounts & Vaults, and enabling the vault. Let me know how you get on with that!

Hi Jack. Thanks for explaining, and for your replies to some of my other posts recently. Hopefully collections makes it over to 1Password in the browser. It's a nice feature but has diminished utility if I can't use it in the browser -- which is where I use 1Password the great majority of the time. This particular vault is one that I don't want to see always ... just sometimes ... hence why I appreciated the vault-switching feature in 1Password Mini.
