Does ⌘\ (not) work in browser pop-ups?
Congratulations on releasing 1Password 8 for Mac!
I have been beta-testing v8 for a while, but did not know about this:
And today we’re thrilled to announce a new feature that raises that bar: you can now fill anywhere on your Mac using ⌘\.
I have two workflows that could benefit tremendously from this; one includes a Safari pop-up, the other a Firefox pop-up.
Unfortunately Universal AutoFill does not work in those pop-ups...
Is this expected? (Where is "anywhere"?)
1Password Version: 1Password for Mac 8
Extension Version: n/a
OS Version: macOS Monterey 12.3.1

Hey @XIII
Congratulations on releasing 1Password 8 for Mac!
Thank you! And thanks for all of your feedback that helped us get here.

I noticed you mentioned you do not have the browser extensions installed ("Extension Version: n/a"). Is that correct? I'll have to double check with the team, but my understanding is that within web browsers this feature will generally require the browser extension.

Oh, sorry, the browser extension is actually installed:
- 1Password for Safari 2.3.3
- 1Password for Firefox 2.3.3
Both pop-ups are native macOS pop-ups (not dialogs in web pages); that's why I thought the browser extension would be irrelevant.

Ah! In that case, it probably is. I would think this should work, so if it isn't I'd like to take that feedback back to the team. Do you have an example of one of these popups we'd be able to test against?

Unfortunately this happens with our internally hosted Azure DevOps server, which is only reachable over our VPN.

Are these prompts "HTTP Basic Authentication" prompts, by chance?
If so, I was able to get autofill to work with that example, at least in Safari (I don't currently have Firefox handy).

Yes, those dialogs look pretty similar.
I created an entry for the site from your screenshot:
- username = user
- password = pass
- website = https://authenticationtest.com
This does seem to work in Firefox, but not in Safari.
It does not work in any browser for our Azure DevOps server.

Thanks @XIII! HTTP Basic Auth has historically been very challenging to work with. Hopefully ultimately Universal Autofill will be able to address those challenges. It looks like there are some rough edges right now, and it works better in some browsers than others. I've brought this up with the team working on this feature and they're going to do some brainstorming on how to make this better. 😁 Thanks so much for bringing it up.

I have the same problem but also in Safari. It worked in 1Password 7, now with 1Password 8, it doesn’t.

@Ben Maybe I have been using the wrong version?

Confirmed: the Nightly did not have AutoFill yet...
After today's update AutoFill works for the HTTP Basic Auth pop-up of my company's Azure DevOps server in both Safari and Firefox.
Awesome!
