My iOS devices point to a dropbox vault (OPVault) and it syncs just fine.
Unfortunately, synchronization with Windows 10 has recently ceased.
How to point 1P windows to this dropbox vault?
Thanks in advance

  • Hello @gearnet, thank you for this question. I'm happy to help!

Here's how you can add an opvault (uh) vault to your 1Password 7 app:

    1. Open 1Password for Windows and sign in with your usual account password
    2. Select 1Password > Open Vault on this PC
    3. Navigate to the location of the vault on your disk
    4. Choose Select Folder

I hope this sets things back to normal for you - and if the steps suggested here don't resolve the issue, let me know and we'll be happy to dig in deeper!

Thanks a lot for this answer.
In fact I want to sync with the existing dropbox vault (used for iOS)

  • Hi @gearnet, sure thing.

In order for Dropbox sync to work between your iOS device and your PC:

    • You'll first need to ensure that the sync is set up on your iOS device,
    • and that you have Dropbox installed and synced on your PC.

Once that's done, you can use the steps provided in my previous post, which is how you point 1Password to the .opvault file that exists in your Dropbox folder on that PC.

In case it's helpful, we have instructions on how to set up Dropbox sync with 1Password here: https://support.1password.com/cs/sync-with-dropbox/?windows

And I'd be remiss if I didn't offer a quick plug for our 1Password.com subscription as well - in which we sync the data for you, so you don't have to manage Dropbox folders in this way.

In any case, I hope this proves helpful - let me know how it goes!

    Thanks again

All my problems were because dropbox was not storing its data on Windows
Also I reinstalled dropbox so that it is in Windows

As you advised me, I took out a subscription and switched to 1password8
Unfortunately when I launch this version (which is well synchronized on windows)
I can't find "Open Vault on this PC" to sync it with dropbox

Hey @gearnet, thanks for reaching out again.

I'm glad to hear you've decided to subscribe to 1Password! The reason you're not seeing the option to "Open Vault on this PC" is because 1Password 8 does not support standalone vaults. Did you still have data that needs to be migrated to your account vault from the standalone vault?

    I am very disappointed.
How my 1P7 application on my iPhone
can it read the contents of 1P8 installed on my windows PC (and stored on 1password.com?)
    Thank you for your help.

No Standalone vault support for 1Password8?? Just found that out myself after updating and trying to add mine. I am extremely disappointed about this. I don't think you guys realize how many people love the service because of the standalone vaults.

  • Hi @gearnet, I'm happy to assist here.

When you upgrade to 1Password 8, it should run an installer that migrates your data from 1Password 7 (including any items that are stored in a Dropbox-synced vault) and puts that into the 1Password.com-synced 1Password 8 app.

Do you currently see your Dropbox-synced items in the 1Password 8 app? If not, I'll be happy to connect you with our specialist team who can help you navigate this transition. 👍

    I solved my problems
I only wanted to update my account 1Password.com-synced 1Password 8 app on my windows PC
and be able to consult it on my iOS devices with 1P7.
All I had to do was create an account on these devices that points to 1Password.com-synced 1Password 8.

  • Hi @gearnet, thanks for the update. It's great to know that you've got it sorted out!
