1Password 8 Not Working Properly as soon as Installed
- Followed instructions for installing 1P8. Said to install Safari extension. Have done that and given accessibility for it to access websites. Does not work. When I click the icon to get drop down it gives me option for quick access or open 1P - if I click quick access then I can type in what I want - however, when I then select the website I want - it goes to the website but does not fill in user name and password. Can not figure anyway to to get it to put in required login. Only way I can do it is to open 1P8 and copy password etc and then paste into appropriate fields in website. (this is on my MacBook Air)
- iPhone still shows 1P7 (and probably same on iPad but haven't checked yet).
- Leaving on an international trip in less than 3 hours - not taking MacBook, only iPhone and iPad.
- Please Help

Hello @BenBob,
Thank you very much for the screenshot. The 1Password in your browser seems to have trouble connecting with the desktop app. Let us try these steps to see how it works, and we can go from there.
Give your computer a restart to ensure no pending process prevents 1Password from connecting with the browser.
Open and unlock the 1Password desktop app.
Open your browser > Wait a few seconds to see if 1Password is unlocked or not. If not, please right-click the 1Password icon in the browser toolbar > Settings > Scroll down to "Integrate with 1Password app" and toggle it off and on again.
If that doesn't work, ;I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:
https://support.1password.com/diagnostics/?mac
Please attach the report to your reply. I'll take a look and let you know what I find out.

Thanks Nhat I am back from my trip and now that my computer was shut down while I was gone and restarted, all seems to be well. Learning how to use the new 1P8.
- I use Safari as my main browser and all seems ok. But when I need to use Firefox or Chrome there is no icon for 1P8 in that browser's tool bar - it only appears in the MacBook tool bar and when I use that to login to a site it reverts to Safari. The only way I have been able to use another browser is to just copy and paste my password, etc from my list in 1P8 (the previous 1P7 had an icon in the browser tool bar so it worked there). Can't figure out how to get 1P8 to work in the other browsers.
- Where is the password generator? I can not find it.
- The blog or summary of features states that you can summon 1P8 anywhere with the shortcut command\ but that does not seem to work.
- Is 1P8 only on the mac? My iPhone and iPad seem are on 1P7 version 7.9.6

On May 11 I posted a question/Problem in the thread " 1Password 8 Not Working Properly as soon as Installed.". I received an initial answer. However since that time I have sought additional help and posted subsequent requests for help in the same thread but I am not getting any love. So trying with a new thread - as My 1P8 is no longer working and it is getting very frustrating.
May 28 I posted the following with no response as of today Jun 5: Thanks Nhat I am back from my trip and now that my computer was shut down while I was gone and restarted, all seems to be well. Learning how to use the new 1P8.

Today is Jun 5: The only thing I can figure is that I recently cleared cookies and cache on Safari browser and things have not worked properly since then.
Looking for help, please!
Thank You!

I'm sorry for the delay in responding, I've merged your two threads together to avoid having the same conversation occur in two different places. I'll respond to each of your questions below:

Please make sure that you've installed and enabled 1Password in the browser in each of the browsers that you use: Get started with 1Password in your browser
Where is the password generator? I can not find it.
You can find the password generator by clicking on the key icon in the 1Password pop-up that appears when you click on the 1Password icon in your browser: https://support.1password.com/getting-started-browser/#create-a-custom-password
The blog or summary of features states that you can summon 1P8 anywhere with the shortcut command\ but that does not seem to work.
I'm sorry to hear that Universal Autofill is not working, can you try to open Quick Access using the following shortcut: shift-command-spacebar. Does that work?
Is 1P8 only on the mac? My iPhone and iPad seem are on 1P7 version 7.9.6
1Password 8 is now available for the Mac, Windows, and Linux. We don't yet have a release date for when the finished and final version of 1Password 8 for the iPhone and iPad will be released but we're making it a priority. In the meantime, you can continue to use 1Password 7 on your iPhone/iPad while using 1Password 8 on your Mac, you won't run into any issues.
I look forward to hearing from you. 😊

Dave - thank you very much. I apologize for having to bother you guys with questions I could not figure out on my own.
Everything you said has fixed all problems and answered all questions. I now have 1p working properly in all browsers. I don't know why it stopped working in Safari but after a restart for a different problem it started working fine again (I thought I had tried a re-start previously).
And yes the "shift-command-spacebar" works great!
Thanks much again!

I share the frustrations expressed above. I have been using 1Password for about a decade or more on my Mac, iPhone and iPads. I bought the license to put on my Mac and IOS devices. About 2-3 years ago I also decided to pay for the Family subscription plan. Recently, I installed version 8 and after that all HELL broke loose. I am very frustrated and I am very tech savvy. This feels not ready for prime time. I am trying to use this on a MacBook Pro and a brand new Mac Studio. This is slow and buggy and now the Safari extension will not even unlock. I am tempted to delete this Version 8 and go back to my stand alone license Version 7 and cancel my Family Subscription Plan. This just is not working. Here are the issues: Extremely slow on Safari, does not always unlock, generating a new password is no longer intuitive and requires more steps than in the past. 1Password used to be so GUI easy to follow and figure out. Not anymore. Why? Okay, I have vented long enough. I still believe in 1Password but if this can't get fixed I will have to fall back on LastPass and wait until the Fall when the new MAC OS Ventura comes out with the new Passkeys that plans to phase out passwords. Please fix this asap so I do not have to keep waiting for the new version 8 to work. Thanks, KSM
