Special characters selection / new password defaults
I wonder if it's possible to set a default for new passwords, e. g. type, length and which character class should always be included?!
Further today it (again) happened to me that I had to change my password for my account with Microsoft, and (again) had to figure out which special characters I may use there. I have similar (or even worse) problems generating passwords for some databases (even when I can set the password, some implementations of DB connectors have problems with some characters).
So, I would like to have an option for choosing which special characters to use, like this online generator provides: https://www.datenschutz.org/passwort-generator/
For now I added a note to the entry in 1password which characters to include or exclude, but face it: that's just ugly ...

Hey @verboese:
It's definitely possible to set a default for suggested passwords though it's currently not possible to select which special characters are used. If you select Smart Password for Type (Password Generator settings), 1Password will suggest a password that fits the requirements for the site. To set a default for suggested passwords:
- Open a browser window.
- Click on the 1Password icon located in the browser's toolbar.
- Click on the key icon.
- Change the Password Generator "recipe" to your preference(s).
- At the bottom, turn on "Use as default for suggestions".
Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for the hint, I indeed haven't found it. That's great!
Still a box for include/exclude characters would be more than nice ;-)0 -
Hi! Great to read that Smart Password actually takes into account the requirements for a specific site. I would however love to have the opportunity to add special characters to a password. (I like to add comma's and semicolons to my passwords to mess with CSV files it will eventually be dumped into after a breach). An alternative that would work for me is to be able to edit the suggested password before autofilling it.
Thanks!

Hi @danielph,
Thanks for your feedback and sharing your use case! We do have an open feature request to bring more customization to generated passwords, including being able to add to them before using them. I'll add your voice to that. 🙂
Let me know if you have any questions and thanks again!
