Chrome / Firefox extension shows "Loading...." for long periods of time

Hello, we have a number of members of staff who are seeing this issue, some of whom have 1Password for Windows installed and linked, some who do not.

At times, trying to access the browser extension will simply show "Loading" whilst trying to sign in. Occasionally this can be resolved by simply waiting, occasionally it seems to need the browser to be closed / opened.

It doesn't appear to happen all the time. I am aware of a few members of staff having the issue with Chrome, I have seen it myself with Firefox. We have tried adding the Windows app and linking it where it was not already present and have also tried reinstalling the browser extension to no avail.

Is there anything else we should be doing? Including my own additional information below.

Hi @mnotley Thanks for reaching out to us here 🙂

We've recently identified an issue with our signing certificate, that affected 1Password 7 and 8 for Windows, resulting in some customers having trouble with updating or installing 1Password as well as the browser integration.

The 1Password 8.7.2 update is now available with a fix for this issue. You can find the latest update by clicking here or select ⋮ > Check for Updates... to check whether 1Password has the latest update.

If you download the installer directly from our website, there may be a Windows SmartScreen warning because we're using a new certificate that hasn't been seen in public before, it is safe to allow the file to go through.

Let me know how things go or if you have any questions - we're here to help!

  • Hi @mnotley:

I just wanted to follow up and see if you're still running into trouble with using 1Password in your browser. Let me know!
