Smart password vs Random Password

Can not seem to find answers:

  1. What is the difference between Smart Password and Random Password?
  2. Why is the Smart Password limited to 19 characters?
  3. Which is recommended?

Thanks - Ben

  • Hey @BenBob:

I sincerely apologize for not replying to your thread sooner. Smart Password is the one I personally prefer. The Smart Password generation rules have been tuned to work in as many places as possible, as well as rely on clues from both the website you're generating the password on, as well as a list of password rules compiled in part by our friends at Apple.

For example, on a page that sets the passwordrules HTML attribute, using the Smart Password generation type will automatically change to to match the rules shared by the website. Let me know if that makes sense!

Thank You Jack, that seems to make sense. My only other question is that the smart password is limited to 19 characters and my small mind seems to think longer is better (if possible). For example - I used to use 20 characters unless I was forced to use less - and recently, for the first time, some worthless idiot was able to hack my Falsebook account. So when I changed the password I made it super long - thinking that was better than using the 19 character smart password.

Is that not really good thinking? So I would be better with the smart password?

    Thanks
