    I have downloaded the version 3.9.6 from the mac store.
    It installs itself but it is locked!! and I cannot open it because it says that the password is wrong.
    But I haven't lodged any password yet!
    How do I work around it?

    It sounds like you used 1Password a very long time ago and perhaps don't remember using it. That would explain why a data file would already exist. You can simply set it aside if you want to just start from scratch. Please follow the steps in the User Guide:

    How To: Start fresh with a new data file (Agile Keychain)

    Note that step 3 is important. You need to get the location of the data file so you can set it aside later in the instructions. If you don't do that you will not find the data file in the default location listed. The default location of the data file in 1Password 3.9 from the Mac App Store is:

    ~/Library/Containers/com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Documents/1Password.agilekeychain
