1P8: Unchangeable Keyboard Shortcuts Are Bad

I mean, that title says it all. Though also, I can't even find half of them documented, so I'll just be working along in something and discover that yet another app keyboard shortcut conflicts with 1Password 8's shortcuts. And I can't change the 1Password shortcuts, so I'm at an impasse.

A couple examples off the top of my head:

  • ⌘-Shift-X is strikethrough in Google Docs (and a few other places, I think), but it now triggers the Safari plugin.
  • In the 1Password Quick Access, ⌘-Shift-C is something I have set for use with Alfred (clipboard history), but 1Password has it set to the Copy Password functionality. I use Copy Password a lot, but I can't use the keyboard shortcut for it unless I retrain years of muscle memory around clipboard history.

There are probably others, and I may add more comments as I get frustrated. As a heavy keyboard user, I theoretically appreciate just how many actions have keyboard shortcuts. But when they're global and I can't change them, it just results in increasing frustration with 1Password 8. (Probably won't revert to 7, but definitely thinking about it.)

    Thanks for sharing your feedback on this! It isn't currently possible to change the keyboard shortcut to open 1Password for Safari, and I've noted your feedback internally about it conflicting with Google Docs.

    Additionally I've noted your feedback about not being able to customize quick access shortcuts internally as well.

    Thank you. Honestly, in the interim I'd settle for a way to just turn off all the keyboard shortcuts that aren't currently configurable. I'm usually a big fan of keyboard navigability, but I really don't want most of these shortcuts and would rather live without them than live with them in conflict with so many things.

    I completely agree with this. I can't use the 1P Safari integration because of these non-changeable shortcuts.
