Generate Password from the Form

Sorry if I am missing the obvious and I could have sworn this was a feature already but when filling in a new site it would be great to be able to generate the password right there.

Right now I have to either use a fake "Generate Password" Vault item or I use the CLI to do it.

    I thought this was always there but just tried to sign up for a site and could not get anything to generate a PW? Did this get dropped from latest version?

    Hi @alfrednutile and @dkardell,

    There are a couple options for generating a password with 1Password 8, the first is using the password generator built into the 1Password browser extension:

    From there, you can also save your preferred password parameters for suggested passwords in your browser:

    Those suggestions will appear in your browser when registering new accounts:

    Outside of the browser extension, you can click the blue + New Item button in the top right of the 1Password 8 Mac app and select Login or Password. Clicking the password field on the new item will give you to option to generate a password:

    All that said, I understand there are some scenarios where it may be useful to have a password generator built into Quick Access, and tracking for this feature is ongoing. I've added a vote on behalf of both of you and appreciate you taking the time to tell us it's important to you.

    Thanks for the solution, but.... I can't believe, I had to come to this website, to start searching a help thread, to find out how to do this... I'm sure this was a 'standard' feature in Version 7?... And it appears that it has been 'buried' and what feels like, 'taken away'....
    I'm having a really difficult time, 'liking' Version 8... so many 'problems' for my money...
