plist file for Touch ID setting

I am looking to disable Touch ID setting within 1Password 8.9.8. The setting is under Security > Unlock > Touch ID.

Is there a good way to do this? I was thinking I could hard code it if I found the plist file, using an MDM.

Note: TouchID is disabled within macOS, however 1Password still allows unlock using Touch ID with this setting.

    Nothing yet? Bump please :)

  • Hello @JoeRo! 👋

    If Touch ID isn't enabled for macOS then you shouldn't even see the checkbox for Touch ID in 1Password 8. Can you please try the following:

    1. Double-check that Touch ID is disabled for macOS and that you've removed any enrolled fingerprints.
    2. Restart your Mac.
    3. Open and unlock 1Password 8.
      4.Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    4. Click on Preferences.
    5. Click on Security.

    Do you still see a Touch ID option?

    We do also have options for administrators to control the Touch ID setting using their MDM solution: About mobile device management

    The MDM link you provided looks to be what I needed. Thanks.

    @Dave_1P ,
    Great documentation, really appreciate the support and the team who wrote that article. Thanks 1Password Team! This is exactly what was needed to implement our security controls on the client.
    Looking forward to the passkey implementation next year :D

    Thank you for the kind words. 🙂
