Excess White Space

Though posting here in the macOS section, I find this to be an issue, regardless of operating system. I've always liked "most" of v8 and I just accept what little I don't like because of using 1Password since the very beginning and not wanting to change. But the excess white space in the v8 UI, with no user-selectable way to tighten it up, is nearly intolerable (to me). If this is just another limitation of Electron, someone please let me know and I'll stop hoping for a fix and continue trying to acclimate to it 🙂. I'm not advocating a move back to v7 at all, but I really do miss that gorgeous UI. v8 hits all the same UX things...but does it really need so much useless white space?

One correction: this issue is most noticeable in macOS and Windows. Please disregard my reference to v8 in any other OS.

  • Hi @LarryMcJ

Have you tried the Compact view in 1Password? Here's what to do:

Mac: Open and unlock 1Password, then click the 1Password menu (next to the  Apple menu) > Preferences...
Windows: Open and unlock 1Password, then click the ⋮ menu towards the top-left corner > Settings...

On the Appearance tab, choose the Compact view, like this:

Give that a try and see how that looks for you. :)

Thanks @GreyM1P – Yes, I've been using that since the beta. Maybe it's just me, but it still seems like a lot of wasted white space in the UI. I'll eventually get used to it.

  • Thanks for clarifying, @LarryMcJ, I'll pass your feedback along to the design team! In case it helps in the meantime, you can also drag to adjust the sizes of the columns:

You know where to find us if you have any questions or additional feedback. 🙂
