When I'm on Safari (iPadOS) and go to one of my financial sites, e.g. Fidelity Investments 1Password automatically comes up without asking for my credentials. This men that anyone on my iPad can log into any of my financial websites. What is going on here, and how can I correct this

  • Hello @dickc! 👋

By default 1Password for Safari requires re-authentication every 24 hours but you can certainly decrease that time if you wish:

    1. Open and unlock 1Password.
    2. Tap on your account or collection at the top of the sidebar.
    3. Tap on Safari Extension.
    4. Tap on "Require Authorization After"

    Set the desired time.

We've gone with the default time of 24 hours because Apple does a great job on modern iPhones and iPads of requiring the users have a PIN code or Face ID / Touch ID to unlock the device. If your device is locked then no one can unlock it and use 1Password for Safari without first providing your PIN code or unlocking the device using Face ID / Touch ID.

If you'd like, you can manually lock the extension after using it by doing the following:

    1. Open Safari on your iOS device.
    2. Tap on 1Password.
    3. Tap on the colourful ring icon.
    4. Tap on Lock 1Password.

    I hope that helps! 🙂
