1PW app login password changed on all devices
The app (Mac mini, MacBook Pro, iPad, iPhone) pw has always been a short, simple one that I set quite a while back. It was different from the 1password.com account access through Safari. I'm the only one that has access to my devices & made the app access easy for myself. This morning I tried logging in to my laptop app and it wouldn't accept the short, simple one. Then discovered it didn't work on any of my devices. My longer, 1password.com password did work through Safari and all devices though.
Has 1PW removed that feature to allow a different pw to access/open just the app vs. the actual long pw? Everything is always up-to-date. Did my devices have some kind of old holdover glitch from an older version of the app on my devices?
Or is there a setting I'm overlooking to change app access on my devices to be a shorter, more simple pw? I hope I explained this well enough...

Hello @JamesTKirk! 👋
Previous versions of 1Password would unlock using the password of the first vault or account added to the app. It sounds like you had an old standalone vault with a short password in the previous version and were unlocking the app using that vault's password. 1Password 8 no longer supports old standalone vaults and you use your actual account password to unlock the app.
I recommend using biometric unlock or Apple Watch unlock on any devices that support them so that you can unlock 1Password without having to type in your account password each time:
On your Macs:
On your iPhone and iPad:
- Use Face ID to unlock 1Password on your iPhone or iPad Pro
- Use Touch ID to unlock 1Password on your iPhone or iPad
I hope that helps! 🙂
