Trying 1Pass 8 deleted my ability to use 1Pass 7 and now I can't use either version

There was a pop-up to try 1password 8 when I opened 1password today (annoying in retrospect considering it broke my entire set-up).

After clicking through to try it, it asked if I wanted to automatically set-up my same vault in 1password 8. I clicked yes, and the next thing I know it says "we've uninstalled 1password 7."

The issue is that I have my personal account, which was bought through the App Store, and I have a work account/vault which is linked into my personal account (shared by my company's account manager). The 1password 8 installation asked to copy my information over, but it only offered to copy my work vault (it also didn't say that it would delete my ability to use 1pass7/vault, but nothing I can do about that now).

My work vault didn't have a password and now it's asking for the master password for the work vault to use 1password 8. I tried accessing 1password 7 and my former master password no longer works. Looks like the set-up changed something.

The one relief is that I still have 1pass 7 on my phone, but that is going to be quite annoying to read and paste over complex passwords.

    1Password 8 uses the password you set for 1Password.com to unlock. 1Password 7 could use different passwords depending on how things were setup. All vaults have a password. I would recommend trying to unlock the work vault with the password you set when you created your 1Password.com account.

    The installation should only remove the application. It's likely we're going to need to get you over to my colleagues on the email team to dig into this in more detail and possibly gather logs.     Thanks for the reply & direction ag_tommy.

    I don't have a 1password.com account, though. I got my 1password from the apple store. Maybe I just need to delete + restore from that process. I'll also continue to work with 1password support.

    Unfortunately, it sounds like new 1password features/support don't take into consideration folks in my boat (folks who use 1password via the App Store), since the nudges just break my experience. Maybe I just need to make a mental note to ignore any 1pass nudges. I guess I could upgrade to the 1password.com route, though I'd be effectively paying for an extra service to have 1password not break my/its own service when it tells me to click something, lol.
