I did a recent update thru the the App Store for 1password and the extension for safari disappeared. When I try to reinstall it says its there but when I click open, I get this message

You can’t open the application “1Password for Safari” because this application is not supported on this Mac.

I'm running Ventura 13.5.1 (22G90) and

1Password for Mac 8.10.13 (81013005)

figured it out. I deleted 1password for safari in apps, reinstalled it and it worked. Guess there was something wrong with the update as it worked fine before.

My situation has some similarities, but no happy ending, so far. I had trouble with 1Password for Safari 2.14.0. After a couple of days, reinstalling 2.13.0 worked for me for two days. Then I installed 2.14.1, and everything was fine for two or three days. Suddenly, this morning, 1Password is no longer available for me in Safari 16.6. To be more specific, 1Password for Safari does not appear in Safari Preferences > Extensions, nor at the top of my Safari browser window. I had exactly these symptoms before, with 2.14.0.

Uninstalling and reinstalling 2.14.1 doesn't help, including restarting Safari and my Mac multiple times. 1Password does work for me in Firefox and Microsoft Edge. I'm running macOS 12.6.8 with all updates, which is the latest version this Mac will run. 1Password 8.10.13. I think I will try 2.13.0 again.

I forgot to mention that clicking Help in 1Password, then clicking Troubleshooting > Fix Missing Safari Extension, also didn't work. But I tried it again after posting my last comment. After then restarting Safari again, the extension appeared and everything did/does work. So now, 1Password for Safari 3.14.1 is working in Safari 16.6 for me.

  • I'm glad that you were able to resolve the issue. Thank you for sharing what ended up fixing things for you. 🙂
