Bug: 1Password incorrectly updating from wrong channel (Nightly instead of Beta)
Some time ago I temporarily switched to the Nightly channel, to start using passkeys. Once passkeys were promoted to the Beta channel, I changed to the Beta channel. I was on 8.10.14 (or .12?) at that moment and expected to get no more Nightly updates, but a Beta updated once that had a higher version number than 8.10.14 (.12?).
Instead 1Password updated to 8.10.16. If 1Password keeps installing Nightly updates, despite the channel being set to Beta, I will never be able to return to Beta (or Production).
I prefer to run Production, but am willing to run Beta until passkeys promote to Production.
How to get out of Nightly?
1Password Version: 8.10.16 Nightly
Extension Version: n/a
OS Version: macOS Ventura 13.5.1

I had activated the NIGHTLY channel for new builds to test some aspects of 1P recalling the main window position. Now, I would like to switch back to the "normal" Beta channel. I have set the Release channel to Beta (and recently even to Production) in Settings/Advanced/Release channel: and "Install updates automatically" to OFF.
However, each time I open the Settings/About window, the most recent NIGHTLY build is downloaded and offered for installation with "Restart now".
What to do?

Hi both.
My colleague Tommy answered this in another thread: https://1password.community/discussion/comment/694309/#Comment_694309
Hope that helps. :)

I don't see an explanation there for Nightly updates still being installed after changing to Beta?
(I expected NO updates until a newer Beta is available, but that is not what is happening).
PS: I got out of this by uninstalling 1Password and re-installing the beta. More details in the topic you linked...

I can not follow the logic.
If I change the setting from NIGHTLY to BETA, the consistent behaviour of 1P would be that the next new beta (with a higher build number than the existing "old" NIGHTLY) would be installed.
Maybe this is not implemented that way, but then the implementation is inconsistent with the settings that are possible/allowed.0 -
Also confused.
Asked follow-up questions in the other topic to clarify.

To prevent the conversation from occurring in two different places at once I'm closing this thread. If you do have any follow up questions please reply in the other thread. 🙂
