How to keep 1Password running without displaying it in the menu bar?

How can I keep 1Password running without displaying it in the menu bar? I want to keep the menu bar clean. I noticed that if I disable the "Keep 1Password in the menu bar" option, the system-wide auto completion would no longer work.

  • Hello @gasses_bird! 👋

Thank you for the question! In order to keep 1Password running in the background even when the main window is closed, and stay available to fill your logins, you need to keep 1Password in the menu bar.

That being said, I've passed along your request for an option to turn the menu bar icon off, while still keeping 1Password running in the background, to our product team. 🙂

    +1

I choose to live without it. Everyone these days seems to think they need a menu bar icon - it's quickly turning into a dumpster fire like the Windows System Tray Notification Area.

I need your menu and associated functionality less than I need a clean interface.

Thank you for the feedback, I've passed it along to the team. 🙂

One option is to use Bartender, a wonderful app that let you manage what you see and don't in the menu bar

  • I use Bartender too. Works nicely for my needs. Thanks for sharing @howardoakland
