1PW Chrome extension kicks me offline frequently with no warning/notification

The 1Password Chrome extension keeps going offline, forcing me to re-enter my long master password way too frequently.

I am using the 1Password Chrome extension on a Lenovo Chromebook. Here are the versions I am using:

1Password browser extension version 2.17.121700102, on STABLE channel

Chrome version:Version 119.0.6045.158 (Official Build) (64-bit)

The extension keeps going offline, even though I have it set to never automatically lock. I hardly ever close down my Chrome browser, it stays up all the time. I do of course close the lid of the laptop when I'm not using it. But I have the laptop set to only turn off the display when I close the lid. It does NOT sleep. So my internet connection is always up.

I also recently disabled the "Integrate this extension with the desktop app" but that didn't help. I don't see how this would be related anyway since I don't use a desktop version of 1Password. I only use 1Password with the Chrome extension.

I have removed and re-installed the extension numerous times. That didn't help either.

When it kicks me offline: the little 1PW extension icon does not show a "lock" symbol, but when I click on the icon there is a red cloud with a strike-through at the top, next to the hamburger menu.

When I hover over the red cloud, it says "Finish Signing In".

When I click the red cloud, it says "Your Account is Offline" and there is a button to "Continue Signing In".

When I click on the "Continue Signing In" button, it brings up the master password entry screen and below that it says "Authentication was interrupted or timed out, please try again".

When I enter my password, all is well... until the next time the red cloud shows up. Which is at least once a day, sometimes more. I never know anything is wrong until 1PW stops auto-filling credentials.

This is very annoying and will force me to quit using 1PW if there is not a solution soon.

I sent the email, thanks. But I can't re-create the issue, because it is random and I don't know how/when it will pop up.

  • Hey @pwhallmark, I've replied to the support ticket that you opened via email, let's continue the conversation there. I'm closing this thread to prevent duplication of effort. 🙂
