Touch ID on the Mac
I use windows for home, mac for work. On my windows box, if I'm on a login page, and 1password isn't authenticated, I can click the 1password icon in the login box and it pops the modal for authenticating with my windows pin or password.
On my mac, clicking the 1password does nothing, and I have to go to the chrome extension to open and log in with my 1password login.
I'm not sure if that's a setup by my company on my mac that forces that, or if it's a feature not developed. When we were using lastpass, I could auth into it using my biometrics on my mac from the button in the password field (just like 1password on my windows box).
Is there a way to do that on my mac? It's a little thing I know, but little workflow improvements can make a difference.

Hello @phlexx! 👋
Thank you for the question! You can use Touch ID to unlock 1Password on your work Mac, you'll first need to turn on Touch ID for the Mac itself and install the desktop app:
- Install 1Password for Mac: Get the 1Password apps
- Make sure that Touch ID is turned on for the Mac itself: Use Touch ID on Mac – Apple Support (AU)
- Turn Touch ID on for 1Password: Use Touch ID to unlock 1Password on your Mac
Once you've completed these steps, you'll be able to unlock both the desktop app and the browser extension using Touch ID. Let me know if you run into any issues. 🙂
